The Moscow Community Food Pantry was founded in 2005 by the Moscow United Methodist Church Sunday school class to serve the needs of families living in the Moscow area. MCFP has now grown into a community based, volunteer operated, and donation sustained food pantry receiving assistance from many area churches, schools, and businesses; it now serves the needs of qualifying families from every zip code throughout ALL of Fayette County, TN.
In 2010 and 2011 MCFP was recognized by the Mid-South Food Bank for outstanding performance out of 31 counties from the tri-state region of Mississippi, Arkansas, and Tennessee. The Pantry served 533 families in 2011, reaching 10.9% of the estimated 6000 underserved individuals in Fayette County.
Moscow Community Food Pantry also provides emergency and transient food assistance.
The Pantry is housed in the Moscow Commons Mall at 13775 Highway 57, Moscow, TN 38057. It supplies families with the basic food groups as well as many extras. Local churches provide deer meat through Hunters for the Hungry. We are also partners with Walmart in Oakland, TN.
MCFP operates each month with volunteers from all over Fayette County. These volunteers shop, collect and transport food, stock shelves, and box food for distribution. They also interview clients and keep records, build ramps, tables and chairs, distribute, and deliver food. MCFP is indebted to each of them for their service in fighting hunger throughout Fayette County.
